Improved time to hire.

Hireology

The challenge

Hireology’s web experience wasn’t meeting user expectations for mobile. As the company explored its first native app, I led research to identify which users and scenarios would benefit most. Interviews with customers and industry peers revealed a clear opportunity: hiring managers needed a faster, more focused way to review applicants and keep the process moving.

The approach

I defined the MVP around the hiring manager — the role most hindered by mobile constraints. Key initiatives included:

  • Conducting interviews and usability tests to validate core workflows.
  • Designing early wireframes and interactive prototypes for testing and iteration.
  • Simplifying the applicant review flow to reduce friction and decision fatigue.
  • Partnering closely with product and engineering to ensure scalability across iOS and Android.
  • The resulting experience enabled managers to quickly view applicants, communicate via SMS or email, and advance or decline candidates in just a few taps.

Storytelling was used to communicate vision and user flows helped to facilitate product and technical discussions.

Sketches of early ideas and solutions.

Wireframes were tested to validate user experience and direction.

    The impact

    Faster reviews. Faster hires.

  • 67% reduction in time to review applicants.
  • 4-day decrease in overall time-to-hire for mobile users.
  • Delivered a scalable foundation for future mobile feature expansion.
  • The mobile app enabled hiring managers to quickly and easily review applicants.

Communication tools and scheduled responses resulted in an improved applicant experience.
